D's halloween costume

This year, D wanted to be a gangster. Over the summer, he watched all three Godfather movies and Scarface so it wasn't a surprise at this year's choice of costume. Finding a pattern to make such a costume proved to be more difficult. But I finally found one. His pants, vest, tie, and hat wrap were all sewn by your truely.
Here's his 'mean' face.

PNEUMONIA LAYOUTS

My darling boy came down with pneumonia when he was 5 years old.
Do you like his lungs?

Another paper piecing. The boy in his bed.

Waterfalls

The one thing I truely liked about Animal Kingdom are the waterfalls. Here, there and everywhere.

Boss's Day Card

I was in charge of the card this year and I briefly thought about purchasing a card but thankfully that didn't last long. The blank 'post it notes' were signed by a member of the staff.

Donald's Boat

I just want to toot my horn for a moment. I paperpieced Donald's Boat. 14 pieces in all. It took my over an hour but I think it turned out okay.

Some Disney Layouts

I'm slowly (SLOWLY) working on my Florida pictures from 2007.

Ha ha. I must've been sipping the juice because I spelled Margaritaville wrong. Oopsie.

Friday, August 29

Okay so I don't rightly remember where I saw this but I saw a posting about taking your fabric and wrapping them around cardboard to make them 'neater'. So I took this cardboard box I had and cut 15 12X12 squares. I wrapped my fabric around the squares and now I have this. Much, much better.

RAK

So I just joined this awesome new yahoo group. The best of House-Mouse. Which anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE House-Mouse mice. Three days after joining, I received a welcome card in the mail.
How cute are these?

You Know Me card...

This is a birthday card I made for my brother. I am embarrassed to say that his birthday was on the 16th and I'm just getting it done, but seeing that I'm late, I think it's fitting.

First I pulled out my striped paper and the card that was to be covered.

Covered it and cut it down to fit.

Working on the snail and the balloons.

The completed card.

I hope he like it. Now if I can just get it in the mail tomorrow.

Sunday, July 20

So I've been seeing cupcakes everywhere. Especially cupcake cards. Not wanting to 'borrow' anyone else design, I worked up my own. I took a premade card and cut the corners off.

I next took a rectangle piece of paper, larger than the card and folded it accordian style. I used the popsicle stick to help crease the edges.

I cut the 'icing' free style. The icing was glued down first then the cupcake liner. Lastly, I added some flower sprinkles to the chocolate ones and used a cotton ball to ink the pink icing.

What Kind of Fruit Are You?

You Are a Pear

You are independent, intelligent, and a free thinker.

You can accomplish great things, especially when you do them on your own.

You are direct, honest, and sometimes even a bit brutal.

There's not much that gets in the way of you and your ambition.

While you are hard nosed, you do have a much sweeter side to you.

It takes times for you to soften toward someone, but once you do, you'll be their friend for life.

Card

I have so busy lately. But because of my dad's upcoming birthday...I put together this neat card. I love the paper that has sayings such as: 'Old guys rule; blast from the past; the older I get the better I was; king of the remote. I know he can take the joke.

Disney layouts

I've have been working for what seems forever on my Disney scrapbook. It's hard to believe that it's been 10 months since I was there. I thought I'd be farther along than now but I guess not. Ah well... here we go.

What Disney book wouldn't be complete with a picture of the castle?

Here is a close-up of Jaques. One of Cinderella's mice. This is a paper piecing I created. He's 14 pieces if I remember correctly. But isn't he cute?Meeting the bear.
Look closely (if you can) at the image in the circle and you'll see my bro puckering up to smooch Tigger.

Folded flower

I can't believe it's been over a month since I've posted. Trust me, I've been busy scrapbooking but finding the time to blog is tough. (My work put in a filter system that prohibits blogging sights.)

At any rate, I wanted to share this little folded flower I made. I borrowed a book from my local library about flower folding and I picked a relatively easy one to start. And it was. I used what is called an ice cream fold. Made 5 and then glued to pieces together to get what you see below.

Father's Day

Father's Day is coming up rather quickly so I thought I'd post my gift from last year. I purchased the letter from walmart for >$1.00 each. The base was cut out and bevelled by my wonderful husband.

First thing is I painted everything blue...even the inside of the letters. Next, I drilled holes in the bottom of each letter and after marking the placement on the base, drilled those holes too.

Next it was adding the paper. I've heard of lots of people using Modge Podge but I don't have any so I simply used decoupage. Let that dry.

I added the photos to paper and adhered them to the back of the letters. Finally embellish and voila.

Baby Boy Altered Tin

Whew! I finished the lunchbox tin I decided to make for my sister. She's pregnant with her first child and I thought 'how great would it be to give her a tin filled with baby announcements?' This is the front. I first tried to decoupage the paper on (thinking it might be like this Modge Podge I keep hearing about.) but the paper kept coming up in the corners so I simply applied some tape underneath and all seems okay.
The back.

I had a lot of fun but boy was it time consuming.

Revamped Layout

This was my original layout. Kinda plain isn't it? I thought so, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what it needed. I decided to enlist some help from my sisters over at Swap and Crop Scrapbooking. I received some great suggestions. So with those ideas in mind, I revamped the layout to the one below...
oh, so much better. What do you think?

More Criss Cross Cards

I had so much fun doing yesterday's cris cross card that I wanted to do more. But what kind? I didn't have to ponder too long before the idea came to me. Birth announcements. Not mine of course but for my twin. God willing, she'll have her first baby in September.

So I decided that I would make her 24 birth announcements, enclosed in an altered lunch box. This is all a surprise, she knows nothing about it, so let's not tell.

So here are my first two proto-types. I like this one, it's simple and I would probably print off the info off the computer but as it was just an example, handwritten was okay.

But this one...This is awesome if I do say so myself.

I do have to increase the size of the onesie though. That way it'll fit more snug in the card.

So this weekend I am off to find baby boy paper and embellishments. I hope I can find some foot print brads. How awesome would those be?

My First Criss-Cross Card!

What a fun, quick, little project. It was an eay card to make...except for one little mishap with a piece of colored paper. I put too much adhesive one and didn't get it positioned correctly. I had to tear it off which didn't work out all that great, but I just flipped the flaps around, (thanks goodness it was the 1st flap I mucked up) and continued on.

The Finished Project.
The Inside Card.

Isn't he cute? I just love meeses.

The tulips are coming! The tulips are coming!

So are the daffodils, the hyacinth, the lillies and the bleeding heart.

I'm so glad spring is on it's way and winter is on it's way out. I won't say spring is here yet because as ya'll might now, this has been a loooonnnnggg winter. We were having snow showers last night. No accumulation but still, snow.

Of course with the appearance of flower buds, that means clean-up. All those darn leaves that weren't able to be removed last year because the snow came too soon are now in full view.

Where is my garden fairy anyway?

Our newest family member

My husband surprised me with a phone call, saying that he'd bought me a present; but I had to pick it up between 2 and 4. My son had an appointment @ 3:30 so those times weren't going to work, I told him. Didn't matter. I had to be 'here' by 4pm. I don't know where here is. So he told me how he had been watching television this morning and was watching "Doggie in the Window" and saw a basset hound. He got dressed and raced over to the pound to see if she was available and sure enough she was. So he paid for her and now I have to pick her up. She's my Easter present. (everyone say aaahh).

So here's Tabitha Love. A very loving 8 year old girl.
